‘Allergy’ or ‘hypersensitivity’ refers to the abnormal reaction to protein substances also known as ‘allergens’, which occurs naturally. Allergic reaction can be caused on any part of the body, however the most common spots are chest and nose causing symptoms of asthma or rhinitis, and hay fever, respectively. A few of the causes and symptoms of allergies are listed below: Hay fever: is primarily caused by pollens of weeds, trees and grass. However, mold spores may also cause symptoms of hay fever. Conjunctivitis: mostly associated with allergic rhinitis, adults are the commonest of those showing symptoms of this type of allergy. In this a person may experience inflammation of eyes being rubbed frequently. Eczema: skin irritation, dry or wet rashes, and severe itching are a few symptoms of Eczema. It typically begins in the first year of a person’s life and with the course of time spreads to other parts of body, particularly in case of broken skin caused by scratching. Hives (Nettlerash), Urticaria: this type of allergic reaction appears all of a sudden. Skin becomes reddish, warm in this and the affected person may also experience itching. Blotches similar to raised wheels of various sizes from as small as mosquito bite to a few inches in diameter may also appear. The symptoms may however last either for a few or several hours. Contact Dermatitis: although its symptoms are very much same as those of eczema, but it’s a different type of reaction altogether. It’s caused by direct contact to substances such as nickel (present in stainless steel, jewelry, clasps, and coins), chromium (present in leather and cement), and various other elements. Food Allergy: common symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and stomachache. This kind of an allergy is commonly seen with the intake of iodinated shellfish and nuts. Insect Allergy: wasp or bee stings result in such a reaction. In US, most deaths occur due to insect allergy than snakebite. To save yourself from any of the above discussed or other allergies, the best way is to stay away from the elements that cause you allergy. Copyright © allergy-relief-center.com All rights reserved.
